Today would have been the legendary Jimi Hendrix’s 70th
birthday. If Hendrix was still alive, still gracing us with his music, how do
you think he’d celebrate? A massive party at some Beverly Hills mansion,
featuring a life-sized birthday cake with acid-infused frosting? Would he play
a monumental showcase, jamming with Woodstock partners, Carlos Santana or Johnny
Winter?
                Whatever hypothetical scenario
comes to mind, one thing’s for sure- it’d be a lot cooler if it were a reality,
but since going back in time is an impossible feat, people everywhere will be
paying special homage to the late Hendrix on this special day.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
and Museum is pulling out all the stops to commemorate the artist, with a
Gallery Talk discussing all-things-Jimi in their Hendrix exhibit, and afterwards,
visitors can head over to the Rock Hall’s Library and Archives to learn more by
listening to audio recordings and watching videos of the musician. Highlights
of the permanent Hendrix exhibit at the Rock Hall include his guitars, past
performance apparel, a family couch, and several other unique and rare items.
                Happy birthday, Jimi!
Wherever you are, we know you’re rockin’!
