Reunite with your favorite uncle this Friday night with upbeat
ballads that encompass St. Augustine, mashed potatoes and old friends.
Uncle Marty will premier his first full-length album, Word Jazz, at The Standard from 8:30-past
midnight or so, starting the set with a tasty array of openers.
Going solo after fronting local indie-experimental band Lighthouse
Music, Uncle Marty, aka Mark Garrison, utilizes his unique voice and talent for
eclectic story telling through his songs. From “The Ballad of Hairy Mashed
Potatoes” to “Romaine Lettuce”, Garrison takes everyday life to a new level (and
food group) that lays itself out within the oldest city’s table of talent.
Employing a personal approach through positive inspirations from
friends and his current dwelling, he deeply belts love for his hometown in "St. Augustine Song,” singing, “We got forts and lights that shine, the kindest people that you’ll ever find,
because I’m back home again, back here on the coast again.”
Since Lighthouse Music’s recent amicable spilt, Garrison has
delved into his musical alter-uncle full throttle, and with a pleasant nod
welcomes all to check out what I know personally to be an entertaining ride
fueled with piano, violin and various instrumentation.
Lucio Rubino is scheduled to kick off the show, which and
continues with Casanova
Frankenstien, The Dewars, Hear Hums and Uncle Marty & Friends. A DJ will be
spinning until 2 a.m. following.
Tickets are $7 for admission and $12 for admission and a copy of
Word Jazz.
The Standard is located at 200 Anastasia Blvd. For more info hit
